Okay I saw a tiktok about this I have to talk about its 4am
Anyone else notice the themes of ableism, consent, and autonomy in RE8? Like we look at the Lords vs Miranda and who she deems her favorite.
The first is Heisenburg. He looks the most normal and has the most control over his cadou. He was the “most successful” of her experiments. He had the least cognitive disfunction but that also sacrificed Miranda’s control over him, which led him to wanting to revolt against her.
Then Lady Dimitrescu. She had what could be considered the least drastic physical changes out of all who did change. She simply got bigger. She could also control going in and out of her secondary form. Her cognitive function stayed the same but she was given some kind of cognitive conditioning which kept her loyal to Miranda. That also explains why Miranda didn’t treat her like a favorite even though Lady Dimitrescu believed she was. She was brainwashed and gaslit.
Then Donna Beneviento. Also probably the least amount of physical change save her scarring, but her cognitive function, which was already stunted, plummeted once her consciousness was divided amongst her dolls. She didn’t seem to have a secondary form, but Angie seemed to dominate in times of high stress out of Donna’s control.
Finally Salvatore Moreau. The most changes in both physical and mental states. His cognitive function regressed immensely and he had very little control over his body, frequently vomiting and changing to his secondary form against his will.
It seems Miranda favored Heisenburg and Dimitrescu over Beneviento and Moreau, and she favored Heisenburg over Dimitrescu, Dimitrescu over Beneviento, and seemed to simply placate Moreau with trifling attention or simple gestures. It all had to do with their appearance and their abilities to adapt to the cadou for her control.
There’s so much more I think and I saw a video on tiktok about. I’m very interested in more and I’ll try to link it here, but please tell me I’m not crazy and this makes sense.
